Mary Jo McHugh, our Chief Operating Officer, has a position that touches every part of our business. Instead of the cap she once wore as star slugger and captain of her college softball team, she's wearing many hats at VSE — with overall responsibility for corporate finances, human resources, and strategic planning, as well as our busy call center and company facilities.While pursuing a successful career in the consumer products field, Mary Jo earned her MBA in finance from Rider University, and her CPA from the State of Pennsylvania. As a senior executive at Lenox, Inc., Mary Jo went from CFO/COO for a $200 million division to Corporate CFO of brand and business development. In between, she led a major transition as the company moved its focus from marketing channels to a unified brand approach. And after the company merged with Department 56, Mary Jo played a key role in integrating both organizations, overseeing finance, human resources, business technology, legal, distribution, and sales.
In addition to her governance over financial policy, we rely on Mary Jo for moving VSE forward on many levels. Her leadership in managing complex issues for a growing business ideally aligns with our vision for the VSE team.
